Bargain with Life

This is a poem that I heard when I was younger and I loved the concept cause it taught me to be wise in the things I ask for.  Rather than trying my best just to pass class I wanted to pass with the best score possible or beyond.  Today I apply it in recognizing that I’m not limited in anything.  ‘With God all things are possible!!!’ (Matthew 19:26)

I bargained with life for a penny.
And life would pay no more
However I begged at evening
When I counted my scanty store.

For life is a just employer
He gives you what you ask.
But once you have set the wages,
Why you must bear the task.

I worked for a menial’s hire.
Only to learn dismayed,
That any wage I had asked of life
Life would have willingly paid.
